A mood board should be a combination of things that inspire you such as art, typography, words, textures, patterns, color swatches, etc. Things that draw you in, that make you feel good about something.

When it comes to building your brand, a mood board is a valuable tool for inspiration, affirmation, guidance and communication.

Inspiration. In this process of workout out your brand identity, a mood board helps bring your brand’s identity, attributes, vision and emotions that you want to convey.

Affirmation. A mood board will affirm and support your brand identity once you figure out who you are. It will help translate

Guidance. A mood board reflects on your brand and can guide you to focus on you brand identity when creating your logo design, website or other design materials.

Commincation. A mood board ensures that your audeince understands your brand vision right from the start.

This is the time to narrow down which color schemes and fonts that fit best for your brand. You shouldn’t choose too many colors because it will confuse people, so try to stick to a single one if possible. You want to find your primary, and secondary colors that match your authentic brand story.

When it comes to fonts, choose two main fonts- one font for headlines and another for body copy — that match the vibe of your brand.
